Dinosaur Ridge

We can check off another one of our "bucket list" items in Denver!  We went to Dinosaur Ridge & hopped on the tour bus, which took us up close personal to dinosaur bones & footprints.

The kids are touching bones that have been left in the rock.

Wings Over the Rockies Museum

We bid on a family season pass to this museum at the school's silent auction and won!  We went one day & loved it so much, we took Ryan a few days later!  They have an area where you can learn/practice morse code & fly a plane with a simulator.

Murph learning morse code

They all LOVED flying the simulator!

Once a month, they have cock-pit demo day, where you can sit in the cock-pit of a few of the planes.  There are science experiments, pedal cars, & you can actually touch the X-Wing that day!

This is the actual x-wing plane in the Star Wars movies.  It is signed by all the cast members!

This was inside the Harrison Ford Theatre.  Little Man's 2 favorite movie series are Star Wars & Indiana Jones!

Definitely a favorite place of ours!

Busy Little Worker Bees

The 4th of July was a bummer.  With all the fires in Colorado, most of the firework shows were cancelled.  Ryan decided to take a few days off & put the kids to work by re-finishing our deck.

A co-worker of Ryan's has a son who needed help with his Eagle Scout Project.  They were painting trees in a beltway so the beavers don't eat them.  The kids enjoyed playing with a frog we found while we there!

Bummer Summer

So far, summer has been kind of a bummer!  We did a few fun things, but the kids have been pretty bored.  Andrea worked until mid June, the kids took golf lessons, we attended a BBQ, spent a weekend with friends, went once to the pool, & then we were homebound for almost 2 weeks!

Murph went to Utah with Aunt Nat & her kids for a week. While she was gone, Andrea got a stomach bug, then Little Man got hand/foot/mouth disease, then the Diva got a fever. During that time Colorado had 12 wildfires, burning over 250,000 acres & burned over 650 homes so the air quality was really bad & people were told to stay indoors. It also made it up to 105 degrees one day-a record for Colorado!! I guess it was a good time to be sick/confined.  We did a lot of baking, playing the computer, movie-watching, playing the Wii, reading, & cleaning/sanitizing the house.  We had a lot of pajama days too.  It has been a crazy June!

The Diva got her foot stuck in the zipline during a BBQ!

Poor kid!  The disease is highly contagious so we couldn't take him anywhere.
